Founded in 1980, The Madison Playgroup is an independent nonsectarian preschool in New York city.
Based on the premise that a childs first experience with education should be a happy one, The Madison Playgroup attempts to maintain a positive and playful attitude for its students. Faculty build self-confidence and optimism by giving the students an opportunity to learn and grow through playtime.
Activities include talking, painting, glueing, drawing, playing, making friends, giggling, playing with blocks, playing on the water table, playing house, working on art and holiday projects, playing around with transportation, manipulating toys and games, playing science and cooking, listening to music and conducting movement, engaging in dramatic play, listening to stories, and playing with puppets, plus a lot more.
The Madison Playgroup is for children age three. There are several groups, each with its own age requirement. Group 1 meets 9:30-11:45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Group 2 meets 9:30-11:45 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Group 3 meets 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Students do not need to be toilet trained to enter the classroom.
The Madison Playgroup celebrates the Christian and Jewish holidays in ways that are appropriate for young children. To ensure an equitable consideration for admission, have your application prepared and turned in before December 1.
